Sheesh! Simon may have some screenwriting chops, but he doesn’t seem to understand the difference between “from the vantage” (which means from a commanding position or comprehensive view) and “from the vantage point” (which means from a particular perspective). He should have used the latter in this case given that he described the particular perspective in the remainder of that clause.
