Speaking of Sept 11th, I barely saw this for the first time yesterday.
    Super hi res footage.
You can see part of the jet hanging from the wtc. You can see inside the tower the lights are stll on, computer screens, the intensity of the fires.
    Just amazing quality.

My dog has more of a right to roam Brooklyn than over half of the people living there.

What is a fem dog? I think it's pretty bizarre to have any conceptualization about such a thing.

He's friendly, but I don't think he'd hesitate to attack a potentially zoophilic, Californian anchor baby that drives a Miata.

That looks about the most normal dog on the planet. I have never seen anyone describe a dog as a fem. We have some weirdos here for sure.

It is true, but it’s basically whining if you don’t move or get involved and back someone else.

He had shitty opponents and tbh, those way left liberals in the cities and kids who can afford to live there with good educations from private schools hate Israel so much right now that I thought he’d win too. If only out of spite. Which is kind of a move you see out of GOP voters normally. Voting against their own interest.

If I was running against him, that’s how I’d frame it. You can be as dumb as a GOP voter and vote against what’s best for you or vote for x
The "blue cities pay for the red ones" argument is a bit unfair, because these are the established commerce centers of the US. People go where the jobs are. If you're a highly educated person, it is far more likely you'll be taking a job in a blue big city than in a small or medium town in a red state. It's like asking why the best baseball players are in the big cities around the US, and why the smaller cities only have minor leaguers.

There's also the "why are educated people so much more likely to be Democrats" argument, and if you ask those on the left, they'll claim that the educated/smart worldview is left wing, and the ignorant/stupid worldview is right wing.

However, in reality, educated people are more on the left because of two factors -- their parents are more likely to be left wing, and they are heavily exposed to left wing propaganda while in college, which is where many political identities form.

You're correct that a lot of Jews were dumb enough to vote for Mamdani. Those Jews are of the self-hating variety, where their allegiance to their left wing religion is more important than their actual religion. I'm not a very religious guy, but I have a strong Jewish identity and feel a connection to Israel. I could never vote for someone who actively hates my own people, and is friendly toward those who would prefer to see me dead.

This is also why I'm hostile toward the Jew-hating alt-right, even if I agree with them on a lot of other political issues.

With all of that said, I'm less worried that NYC will become dangerous/unpleasant for Jews under Mamdani's leadership, but more concerned that the city is going to degrade at a rapid rate while led by a naive 33-year-old who thinks he has it all figured out.

That's not to say all 33-year-olds would be incapable of being decent NYC mayors, but anyone of that age bringing radical, naive, socialist ideas to the office, in the name of "change" and "equity" is going to fuck things up royally.

The city-owned grocery store thing is a good example of his naivete.

The grocery store seems like a simple place when you visit as a customer, but it's actually a complex industry where experience matters. For-profit grocery stores have over 100 years experience of inventory control, efficient operation, and customer service. The city of New York has... none of this experience.

And if your response is, "Oh, they'll just hire experienced people to run it, or they'll hire consultants to learn what to do", all you have to do is look at the gambling regulatory bodies which have popped up in states all over the US. Most of these gambling commissions are run by morons with no clue about the industry, and none are interested in consulting with experienced people to teach them what's up. This is even true in Nevada when it comes to anything online-related, or basically anything poker-related.

In short, you should never count on the government to enter an industry as an inexperienced player, and then learn on the job. It always ends in disaster.

Now, let's say Mamdani's plan was to buy existing grocery stores at prices so high that ownership couldn't refuse, and then employed the exact same people to run them without city interference, but with the only difference having the goal to break even rather than turn a profit, and without the burden of rent or utilities payments. That, in theory, could work. But that doesn't appear to be his plan. He thinks he's just going to open city-owned stores and they will naturally end up so cheap that it puts all other stores out of business, and all the residents of NYC will be winners. As I said... very naive.

This is soooo much more simple then that Druff, every single major American Metropolitan area so City, in the U.S. is actually voting Blue and Democratic.

Reason being most major Metropolitan Cities have new immigrants, and poor people who need and use Social Services. All major Populated American City in the U.S. votes BLUE on Election day (Democratic) its what Cities in America do, Vote Blue. They vote Blue like clockwork, you need the Flyover States to win as a Republican or RED, of course.

I'll give you another example of the government being incompetent at running a consumer operation:

    The National Park Service.

But it's not what you think.

I actually am a fan of the National Park Service itself. Unlike other right wingers, I don't support cutting its budget, I don't want them laying off park rangers or other employees, and I feel the US public gets good value for the money spent on the NPS. In general, entry fees are reasonable, the parks are not gimmicky or commercialized (which is what happens when they're run privately), and most rangers are there because they are truly dedicated to the cause. I usually very much enjoy my visits to National Parks, and I hate when fellow GOPers talk about cutting their budget, selling land, or privatizing them.

But you know what the NPS is really, really bad at?

    Lodging.

If you've ever tried to get a room at a hotel or motel within the park system, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. They're poorly maintained, super expensive, rarely renovated, and difficult to book. The websites to book these rooms are also terrible and buggy.

    Why is this?

Because rather than learn how to operate a hotel (which, like running a supermarket, isn't trivial), they farmed it out to third party companies. These companies are given some kind of incentive to extract the most money possible (presumably a cut of the profits), so the result is high rates, poor customer service, and very little spent on maintenance and renovation. These places fill up anyway because they have a literal monopoly inside the parks.

The experience the citizenry has with the national park hotels is the opposite of the parks themselves. They get poor value for money, a subpar experience, and poor availability.

So what's going to happen with the city-owned grocery stores, if this ever occurs at all?

They're probably going to operate at a big loss and cost the taxpayers a fortune, so they can artificially present the appearance of success. They will probably kill off other grocery stores nearby, which won't be able to compete. With the private stores gone, citizens will have no choice, and when the city-owned stores start to falter regarding keeping enough inventory on the shelves, it's gonna be a "oops we'll try to do better soon" sort of situation.

In general, government should only be running industries which are pure public service. This includes providing roads, police/fire departments, prisons, parks, national parks, public transportation, etc. Once they nose into commerce, it typically doesn't work out. And when it comes to taking over something they didn't previously understand, it especially doesn't work out.

Just wait until we get socialized medicine here.
