Remember that fight when the judges give Conor the decision despite landing 20% of the volume Floyd does.

Don't gimme your fuckin Manson lamps, I'm just saying.
Taylor landed more than Ouma in that fight, though. Ouma just threw more.

I feel weird arguing with you about this, but no one watching the fight thought so at the time. Not me, not the announcers on HBO, who were sputtering with disbelief at the decision. "Taylor landed harder" was the narrative that was trotted out to fit the decision, Ouma landed blitzes of combos over and over that Taylor could only clinch to escape.

I'd have to go back and watch the fight again, admittedly. I remember thinking it was closer than the scorecards.

I don't really pay much attention to what the announcer say.

I also haaaaaate to use compubox but they had Taylor landing more, while throwing less, I believe.

It's super easy to score rounds for the aggressive fighter. I've always sort of leaned more toward scoring rounds for the boxer over the aggressor, when it's not really effective aggression.

But again, I'd have to watch the fight over to say it with any certainty, but I don't really remember it being a robbery.

Full disclosure; it was the last fight on one of the larger parlays I had ever made. At the 9th round, everyone had all but handed the fight to Ouma, the announcers felt he had run away with it in dominating fashion and so did I, that I basically assumed it was a wrap so I sparked a bong hit and jumped in the shower and literally when I got out, Taylor's hand was raised, the announcers were tossing around words like "shocking" and "indefensible", and shortly after rumors started popping up about one of the judges being a major backer in some African soccer deal that Ouma had fucked up, something along those lines.

It was literally my first 'touching a live wire' moment for me regarding boxing judges, and although there were others, none of them were as over the top as that one.

But, again, I had money on the fight and that always contributes to ones perception when things dont work out, admittedly.

Money says Conor McGregor won’t go MMA on Floyd Mayweather
    https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports...yd-mayweather/

“Something is going to happen,” famed boxing trainer Freddie Roach said last month. “I think the fight will end maybe in a disqualification. I don’t think (McGregor’s) going to let a guy beat him up for 12 rounds … I see this happening clearly in my head.”
Mayweather may end up with 90% of the cash which he setup from the beginning.

Still McGregor would make over $10 million which is bigger than any fight in the UFC.

more of the smart money vs. dumb money argument for taking Floyd.

For each bet on Mayweather at the Westgate SuperBook, there were 12 on McGregor. But 76 percent of the money was on Mayweather. The average size of a bet on McGregor at the Westgate was $212. The average size of a bet on Mayweather was $8,036.

McGregor is making more than 10m in his UFC fights. The UFC discloses only a small portion of the fighter pay for main events. McGregor takes a cut of the ppv buys, gsp used to get 7% of the ppv buys, I think it's safe to guess McGregor gets more. McGregor has stated he made over 25m for his last UFC fight.

McGregor isn't a guy who fights dirty at all, he never has in the UFC even when things aren't going his way. The only way I see him getting disqualified is if he can't follow some subtleties of the rule set. In the clip with Malignaggi he is holding his head down a bit and rabbit punching. If he commits fouls like that over and over he may give the ref no choice but to DQ him. We also still don't know the precise terms around his loss of purse. McGregor coach has said it's only for an illegal blow like a kick or elbow. I'm sure they have very detailed wording in their contract on what kind of DQ costs McGregor a large portion of his purse.

De La Hoya has come out of this entire thing looking like a cry baby. McGregor is going to land a punch. A more interesting bet is McGregor wins a round. I think he may sneak out one of the early rounds when Floyd is fighting safe and getting his timing. Max Kellerman and Brendan Schaub have a $100,000 bet on it.

mayweather will end this in the 10th, 11th or 12th round

Get your prop bets in . It will look as if it is going to a lopsided decision but mcgregors heart won't be enough to get him to the end

Not much point betting outright for this fight now, for a fun bet might have a small wager on Mayweather to get knocked down and come back to win.

Also might pick rounds 1-4 McGregor and root for the upset

McGregor had no problems knocking Nate Diaz down more than once and he weighed like 185 pounds - so, if he lands he will knock old Floyd down easy enough you'd think.

He shouldnt but I think Floyd is smart as hell and has become a very cautious fighter. I don't see a lot of volume out of him early and I think Conor might sneak a round in just based on activity and ring generalship.

    Unrelated but interesting clips.

Diaz is a punching bag and got hit clean by McGregor over and over with 4oz gloves. He went down but he didn't seem particularly hurt.
