    Druff, you need better stories.

for instance: a story about Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey.

This just conveniently showed up on my news feed & came here to post it only to find out Druff's not dead. I am very disappointed:

And I think cmoney was kidding? Druff's bird making an appearance a couple pages back would suggest he's fine.

He probably got some antiseptic cream and life is good again.

Reminds me of that episode of Friends where Ross fakes his own death just to see the reaction.

Poor etiquette when one is forced to bump their own posts.

    Hello, everyone.

I still can't believe this happened to me.

On Tuesday night, I posted pics of those weird sores on my hand, and told everyone that I had taken a 5.5 mile hike earlier that day with no problem.

I woke up on Wednesday morning and noticed that my hand looked worse, but again I did not feel sick or fatigued at all. However, I was busy and did not have time to log into PFA. On Thursday, my hand looked about the same as it did on Thursday. I did feel a little more tired than usual, but I dismissed it as simply being stressed about the situation with my hand.

I decided to throw caution to the wind, and took yet another hike in the early evening. This one was not in an area known to have mosquitoes, nor other bugs of concern, so I thought everything would be fine.

After about 1.5 miles, I started feeling very strange, and my heart started beating faster. I thought I was just winded and figured I would just sit down. However, there was no place to sit, but I saw about 100 feet ahead, there seemed to be a tree stump which would work perfectly. I said to my girlfriend, "I don't feel that good, I'm going to sit down at that stump over there", and started to walk that direction.

    That's all I remember.

Apparently I walked about 5 feet, and fell down unconscious.

My girlfriend could not dial 911 because there was no cell reception where we were. She took Benjamin and ran with him to the last point where she had reception, called 911, and then ran back to where I was still unconscious.

There were apparently 3 other people there trying to wake me up, and someone else had apparently also run back to call 911.

At the hospital, a full day passed and I could not be awakened. Everyone was extremely concerned, though doctors could not come to any conclusion as to what happened. The marks on my hand were different than they had ever seen, even when sending pictures of them to an insect bite specialist. My vitals seemed to be okay, but I simply was not able to regain consciousness.

On Friday night, my girlfriend was visiting and put the Dodgers on TV, hoping perhaps the sound of the game would be something familiar to bring me back to the real world.

For about an hour, nothing happened. However, with the Dodgers down 4-3 in the 7th, Chris Taylor hit a double to tie the game 4-4 against the Giants, and suddenly I mumbled something like, "I knew Taylor would do it, he always does", and then fell back unconscious.

She jumped up in excitement and called the nurse over, who then told her she had to leave the room while they attempt to bring me back to consciousness.

About 30 seconds after my girlfriend left, Corey Seager hit a 2-run homer to put the Dodgers up 6-4. My eyes opened at that point, and I said, "Yeah!! Seager!! Just like PLOL and OSA said, you're hot!!"

At this point I was fully conscious. I remember saying that, but I don't remember why I said it (other than the fact that PLOL and OSA really said this at one point).

The nurse didn't understand the PLOL and OSA part, and actually thought I was gay and had a crush on Corey Seager. After telling me that I had been unconscious for over 24 hours and that they couldn't wake me, the nurse quietly told me, "Oh, and I won't tell your wife what you said when you woke up. I have a brother like you, and I know this isn't any of my business."

It took me a second to process this, but I was very embarrassed when I realized what I had said. The nurse believed I was a closeted gay guy who was hiding it from his wife. At first I was dying to see her again so I could explain the forum and what I meant by that, but then I noticed she was treating me really nicely because I was "like her brother", so I let her go on believing I was gay.

Then I shook that off and thought deeply about my situation. I was really unconscious for over 24 hours. I could not be awakened. Nobody knew why. Nobody still knows why. It's a mystery. Obviously it had something to do with those marks on my hand, but they can't even figure out what they are or how they got there. I feel terrible for my girlfriend, for Benjamin, for my parents, for my brother and sister... all were so concerned, and they had to wait over a full day for this crisis to be over, while I was completely out cold and had no idea.

Various tests were then run. All of them came back negative or inconclusive.

I was told to stay for observation for 72 hours, so I'm still in the hospital.

The food is absolutely terrible. I ordered pizza from a nearby place which delivered, but it irritated me that I had to pay $21.50 before tip for the same pizza I could get there carryout for $7.95. But whatever. Had to suck it up and pay it. The staff wasn't thrilled about a pizza being delivered, but I'm not on any dietary restrictions, so fuck 'em.

Provided nothing else happens, I will be out on Tuesday night. No hikes for awhile.

The 3 marks have subsided somewhat, and seem to be going in the right direction. At the very least, it has been confirmed that everything is okay for now, and in fact I'm not even on any medication.

I was not able to get on here until now because my phone was dead, I had no charger with me, and my girlfriend had to go back home and bring me one.

She also brought me my computer, which I'm using right now for the first time.

I see BGC has been a bad boy with bumping threads pointlessly.

The post she made on Thursday night was done while she was in a distraught state. She wanted to post something positive regarding what I felt about the users here, in case I died or didn't wake up.

I have since instructed her to post a more detailed message upon my death or long-term comatose state, which will bluntly and callously lay out who I really liked and disliked here.

Hopefully it will never come to that.

Now that I actually read and not skim his hospital trip report it's quite obvious he tried to make it funny. Pretty sure the dude knows how to lie...

We all know he can play dead. And probably shake and roll over too.

Okay, stop ruining this thread with crap.

I'm not out of the woods yet, literally or figuratively.

Now my legs have some issues, mostly near my ankles. Both are swollen, and my right ankle has a bump on the back which makes it feel like my shoe is messed up (but it isn't).

Lots of mosquito bites down there, most of them are old and healing, but some of the scabs look weird, and as I said, both legs are swollen.

If I could rewind the clock to early March, before all the colds, foot problems, back problems, and skin problems, that would be great.

I've already established my position on the whole hiking in the woods & camping thing.

What insecticide are you spraying yourself and family with before exposing them to this needless risk? Obviously, it's not working. If I were hypothetically in the woods I would want to choose the other product.

    Please advise.

Most of us already suspect the answer.

Ship this guy the "worlds worst dad" shirt. Because that's what he sounds like, the worlds worst dad. I can imagine, little Sanlmar talking with his friends about a camping trip they're going on. Then he comes home and asks you if you're gonna take him. And your response is "No, sorry, it's nature and it's dangerous. you could get a mosquito bite"

Nature is fucking awesome. how on earth can you think otherwise.

get some legit bug spray (with deet) and get out there and explore nature. drive to the nearest national or state park and set up a tent. Grill some meat over a fire, or go fishing. or do both. get a fucking cross bow and go bow hunting. Just do something that isn't what you're doing now, which is sitting on a computer giving your opinion on how you don't like nature and what it has to offer.

    OR

you can go back to the trash can you're typing from, bc CLEARLY, you're oscar the grouch.

    Oh, I deserve the shirt.

If we had an afternoon at the Lake we'd go water skiing or learn to wind surf or something of that ilk. I would trash talk his performance when he was with me mercilously.

I NEVER took the kids camping or hiking. Perfect record. Daughter hikes and camps quite a bit now in the south west. Love the rebellion and can deal with the disrespect to my memory.

I am in a reflective mood about my behavior lately. I am a grouch. Is my own selfish amusement at others expense wrong? I have been admitting an awareness of my sins publicly these past few days. It's a first step.

Literally minutes ago I texted this.
