"Winning is the most important thing in my life, after breathing. Breathing first, winning next."
George Steinbrenner
I got it in Vegas somehow in summer of '07. Felt it coming on nearing end of my stay. I drove out as my plans were indefinite and stayed like 6 weeks, and ended up in some 8 bed regional hospital in Golden, Colorado at like 3AM in the morning after starting to swerve all over the road getting sick and loopy. Recall my heart racing like a cocaine bender.
Got the shit surgically lanced by a doctor who ended up growing up like 15 minutes from me. Labs said it was staph, likely mrsa, gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way. No stay. No quarantine. Had reemergence once home. Lanced again. Labs said same, no quarantine, no stay.
Never had a full emergence again, but occasionally, when I feel run down or I'm on little rest for a few weeks, I can feel the shit start to raise again, like it could pop back up, but I've always kept it at bay. Don't think it ever really leaves your system totally, but I've heard different things from medical professionals, so who knows?

Hello, everyone.
I still can't believe this happened to me.
On Tuesday night, I posted pics of those weird sores on my hand, and told everyone that I had taken a 5.5 mile hike earlier that day with no problem.
I woke up on Wednesday morning and noticed that my hand looked worse, but again I did not feel sick or fatigued at all. However, I was busy and did not have time to log into PFA. On Thursday, my hand looked about the same as it did on Thursday. I did feel a little more tired than usual, but I dismissed it as simply being stressed about the situation with my hand.
I decided to throw caution to the wind, and took yet another hike in the early evening. This one was not in an area known to have mosquitoes, nor other bugs of concern, so I thought everything would be fine.
After about 1.5 miles, I started feeling very strange, and my heart started beating faster. I thought I was just winded and figured I would just sit down. However, there was no place to sit, but I saw about 100 feet ahead, there seemed to be a tree stump which would work perfectly. I said to my girlfriend, "I don't feel that good, I'm going to sit down at that stump over there", and started to walk that direction.
That's all I remember.
Apparently I walked about 5 feet, and fell down unconscious.
My girlfriend could not dial 911 because there was no cell reception where we were. She took Benjamin and ran with him to the last point where she had reception, called 911, and then ran back to where I was still unconscious.
There were apparently 3 other people there trying to wake me up, and someone else had apparently also run back to call 911.
At the hospital, a full day passed and I could not be awakened. Everyone was extremely concerned, though doctors could not come to any conclusion as to what happened. The marks on my hand were different than they had ever seen, even when sending pictures of them to an insect bite specialist. My vitals seemed to be okay, but I simply was not able to regain consciousness.
On Friday night, my girlfriend was visiting and put the Dodgers on TV, hoping perhaps the sound of the game would be something familiar to bring me back to the real world.
For about an hour, nothing happened. However, with the Dodgers down 4-3 in the 7th, Chris Taylor hit a double to tie the game 4-4 against the Giants, and suddenly I mumbled something like, "I knew Taylor would do it, he always does", and then fell back unconscious.
She jumped up in excitement and called the nurse over, who then told her she had to leave the room while they attempt to bring me back to consciousness.
About 30 seconds after my girlfriend left, Corey Seager hit a 2-run homer to put the Dodgers up 6-4. My eyes opened at that point, and I said, "Yeah!! Seager!! Just like PLOL and OSA said, you're hot!!"
At this point I was fully conscious. I remember saying that, but I don't remember why I said it (other than the fact that PLOL and OSA really said this at one point).
The nurse didn't understand the PLOL and OSA part, and actually thought I was gay and had a crush on Corey Seager. After telling me that I had been unconscious for over 24 hours and that they couldn't wake me, the nurse quietly told me, "Oh, and I won't tell your wife what you said when you woke up. I have a brother like you, and I know this isn't any of my business."
It took me a second to process this, but I was very embarrassed when I realized what I had said. The nurse believed I was a closeted gay guy who was hiding it from his wife. At first I was dying to see her again so I could explain the forum and what I meant by that, but then I noticed she was treating me really nicely because I was "like her brother", so I let her go on believing I was gay.
Then I shook that off and thought deeply about my situation. I was really unconscious for over 24 hours. I could not be awakened. Nobody knew why. Nobody still knows why. It's a mystery. Obviously it had something to do with those marks on my hand, but they can't even figure out what they are or how they got there. I feel terrible for my girlfriend, for Benjamin, for my parents, for my brother and sister... all were so concerned, and they had to wait over a full day for this crisis to be over, while I was completely out cold and had no idea.
Various tests were then run. All of them came back negative or inconclusive.
I was told to stay for observation for 72 hours, so I'm still in the hospital.
The food is absolutely terrible. I ordered pizza from a nearby place which delivered, but it irritated me that I had to pay $21.50 before tip for the same pizza I could get there carryout for $7.95. But whatever. Had to suck it up and pay it. The staff wasn't thrilled about a pizza being delivered, but I'm not on any dietary restrictions, so fuck 'em.
Provided nothing else happens, I will be out on Tuesday night. No hikes for awhile.
The 3 marks have subsided somewhat, and seem to be going in the right direction. At the very least, it has been confirmed that everything is okay for now, and in fact I'm not even on any medication.
I was not able to get on here until now because my phone was dead, I had no charger with me, and my girlfriend had to go back home and bring me one.
She also brought me my computer, which I'm using right now for the first time.
I see BGC has been a bad boy with bumping threads pointlessly.
The post she made on Thursday night was done while she was in a distraught state. She wanted to post something positive regarding what I felt about the users here, in case I died or didn't wake up.
I have since instructed her to post a more detailed message upon my death or long-term comatose state, which will bluntly and callously lay out who I really liked and disliked here.
Hopefully it will never come to that.
Glad to see you're somewhat ok.
Jeez, welcome back. I feel bad for assuming this was another one of your hypochondriac episodes.
Also glad to hear I'm a part of your subconscious.
Wow Druff is really getting elaborate with the set up for next year's April fool's joke
Oh, one really important detail I forgot from my last post:
Wait, that wasn't it.
Oh yeah, here's what I wanted to say:
Lesson learned: never go anywhere you can't get cell phone reception.

As soon as I read your story I knew it was bull shit, basically because of this sequence:
"I did feel a little more tired than usual, but I dismissed it as simply being stressed about the situation with my hand.
I decided to throw caution to the wind, and took yet another hike in the early evening. This one was not in an area known to have mosquitoes, nor other bugs of concern, so I thought everything would be fine."
How does one throw caution at the wind and take a hike into an isolated area? This is the opposite of throwing caution into the wind.
Another piece of bull shit was hiking in an area without mosquitoes, as if there are advertised areas that are mosquito free.
Then there is the homo reference from the nurse, no registered nurse would ever say anything like that to someone she has known for 30 seconds, give me a break.
And no Obamacare insurance would get 72 free hours when test show there is nothing wrong with you.
As soon as I read your initial post I knew it was BS. With that said I am glad you are not dead or mortally ill, I honestly thought you had latent Kaposi Sarcoma.
Told you fuckers you needed to take the baton. I ran such a strong first leg but I got gassed. I knew we were on the right path. Four of us would have gotten it done...
However in poker terms you could say I folded to his four bet though since I bumped back threads. After 12-18 hours of him not changing it back I will admit I thought something was wrong.
I knew the story was bullshit as soon as you said that you paid $21.50 for a pizza to get delivered that you could get for $7.99 carry out.
Willie: I get the joke. It's bottomfag.
