I do want to revisit the sub-topic here of unions. I have a friend in the Las Vegas area hoping to work at Costco and his efforts reminded me of a few things I'll share below.
Costco is a super successful bulk to consumer brick and mortar mega store chain. They have stores in multiple states, the AZ, CA and NV locations are what I have seen. Costco employees are very well paid and their benefits are outstanding, including company stock purchase options, educational incentives, retirement and....they are union. It should also be noted that they do not have a high employee turnover rate. They employees there are happy, productive, thrive and the company does not see the usual 25% loss in productivity due to high employee turn over.
FORTUNE magazine- How Costco saves taxpayers money (and the Jew wallet)
FORTUNE — Can a company with a low-price strategy afford to pay employees higher wages? Costco seems to think so. And in doing so, Costco saves taxpayers money.Hay estimates that for “an organization with 10,000 employees, a 10 percentage point reduction in turnover over two years would result in savings of $17.5 million (assuming an average salary of $35,000 and an average replacement cost of 50% of salary),” according to a recent press release.Google search-Low turnover “allows us to pay good wages because we are not spending time, money, and resources filling positions,” Costco’s Callans told me.
Costco's Business Model:
Costco's approach includes higher wages, comprehensive benefits (including healthcare and retirement), and a focus on employee retention. This translates to fewer employees needing to rely on public assistance programs like food stamps or Medicaid.Side notes-Employee Assistance Program:
Costco offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that provides confidential support for mental health and personal issues, including counseling. This can help employees address challenges that might otherwise lead them to seek public assistance.
- Their stock (COST) is pretty good and worth looking at.
- In 1989, my cousin bought 3 shares of COST stock at around $150 each, fast forward 35 years later, the value is over 11k.
- Checking for my friend, Costco is hiring for alot of jobs in the Las Vegas/N. Las Vegas area.
Now the flip side to large "big box" stores is Walmart- they are clearly not union and have alot of problems- Low pay, high employee turn over, constant labor law lawsuits and even tell their employees how to use public assistance programs to supplement their low grade company health plan, which impacts the taxpayers.

More-
Who do you think gets sued more- Walmart (non-union) or Costoc (union)??Walmart faces numerous lawsuits, with a high volume, nearly 20 per day, stemming from various issues including employment discrimination, wage and hour violations, and personal injury claims. Many cases involve employees alleging violations related to overtime pay and discrimination. Slip and fall accidents at Walmart stores are also a common source of litigation, with settlements ranging from $10,000 to $50,000, but potentially reaching six or seven figures in severe injury cases
I always tell the cheap conservative types that rave about Walmart's l"ow prices"- What you save at the register, you lose on the backside as a taxpayer. They HATE this reality and cant stand the idea. The Neo Cons are just as moronic as libtards, just different stadium. Note- I am not a GOP or conservative person or Dem or liberal, I dont associate with either org.
I really hate Walmart and avoid shopping there as its too low level for me, just being honest. I do shop Costco as I support union labor and like the business model.
Seems like the union platform is way more productive and cost efficient to the box box/bulk business model. Just like in the public safety sector as I previous wrote about in this thread.
