Boeing Dreamliner goes down in India

This plane and the 787 overall had a 100% safety record until today.

From videos it appear the lift upon takeoff wasn’t there as almost if both engines were not working as the plane can and should be able to operate with only one.

More problems for Boeing regardless of the reason for the crash.

Ha! So did I, LA to Miami.

Zero concerns on my end about the plane, the odds are with us.

I know you had concerns with the Max as well, which was new and definitely had a training issue with pilots, not a design flaw but the reason doesn’t matter when you crash.

But the 787 has been fine since its introduction. I’m confident, maybe too confident, they will figure out what happened quickly and address it if it’s possibly systemwide.

For me, I’m more concerned with the ATC’s, radar and the crazy amount of planes in the sky at any point in time. Look at Flight Radar or Flightaware around any major airport, they have a difficult job with no room for error.

99% of plane crashes are pilot error or being inadvertently shot out of the sky by Russia, these things just don't fall out of the sky. That video looks very sketchy, almost intentional. It was just a slow descent, my guess the pilot was on a suicide mission.

That’s certainly possible as an option.

I’m now hearing an expert saying weight could have been an issue from the video. With all the computers and double checking I’d be surprised if that happened unless there was a major error in calculations and the systems in place.

Flap error was also listed but again alarms should be going off way before takeoff if that happened.

Bottom line is this shouldn’t happen and something in the safety checklist was missed or bypassed. Which comes back to your theory.

Only sure thing is Boeing stock will take another huge hit today.

Note how the plane seems to be flying level then tries to climb last minute but didn’t have the speed to lift at this point.

Just speculation on my end but that could be because of the flaps set incorrectly.

Any third world crash makes it more likely that it's pilot error or poor maintenance, so that definitely has to be taken into account.

I've seen others speculate the flaps were involved here.

This is primarily why I never fly overseas, the service level maintenance and pilot vetting is generally awful. My fear of flying is pilot error, I read an article a while back, the biggest problem with pilots nowadays is they have become so reliant on auto pilot they simply forget how to fly a plane on their own, so when you need that skillset you are like an aged athlete.

Apparently this airport has a problem with vultures, yes vultures. So the initial theory is a bird strike in the engines.

I only fly Southwest due to credit card points, so I have not been on anything other than a 737 for years. I know some people hate on Southwest, I never get the hate given their very generous loyalty program. I just get my seat and get off the plane two to three hours later. Some people complain about everything, I just get on, tilt my seat back after take off and that is about as deep as it gets for me. Airplanes are nothing more today than a Greyhound bus, its general transportation. I remember flying with my Dad in the 1980s on TWA, they had a plane so large they actually had an upstairs with a bar, the bar seats were all equipped with seats belts, lol are those days over.

So there's apparently one guy who claims to have been in seat 11A, and was seen walking away from the crash:

    https://www.cnn.com/2025/06/12/india...esh-intl-latam

The guy had blood on his shirt, but otherwise wasn't particularly dirty, nor injured-looking.

At first it was dismissed on social media as a hoax.

However, now it is being widely covered in media. I still think there's a good chance this was a hoax. Air India has not yet verified that he was really on that plane. He was near the emergency exit, and experts said the explosion was likely to be most intense right there, so it's shocking he could have survived at all, let alone be able to walk away.

I bet this will be revealed to be bullshit within a few days.

Years ago there was a plane crash over in Florida, everyone died. There was a guy at the airport who was interviewed he was late for that plane, missed it and now was miraculously alive. He was all over the news giving interviews on how luck he was. Turns out he made the whole thing up, he missed a completely different plane.

seen a video late last night on TikTok, there is a 30 year veteran pilot on there (commercial passenger) and he goes by "pilot Steve" i think it is and i believe he is on youtube also, anyways he analyzed the video and he believes that probably the pilot told the copilot " ok landing gear up" but the copilot hit flaps up instead by accident, causing the plane to lose lift, he came to this conclusion by stating the landing gear should of started to retract shortly after takeoff , but it was still fully in the down position when it should of been retracted this far from the takeoff... makes sense and i believe pilot Steve...

That's coincidental, I thought the exact same thing after watching the video a few times.

So far nobody has proven that the "sole survivor" is a liar.

    Dude may be legit. Weird.
