That Eric Daugherty is a partisan hack, but it's not fair to compare homicides by Islamic fundamentalists to the overall number of homicides in this country.
Let's say I could see the future and tell you that, in the next 12 months, Cleveland would have 130 homicides, but 5 of those would be from a random spree killing in a supermarket.
I'm sure you'd worry more about the 5 in the supermarket than the other 125.
Why? Because that's a place where you actually go, and could be a random victim, whereas you could chalk up the other 125 homicides mostly to gang violence, street crime, domestic violence, and targeted murders.
Terrorism is a lot scarier than normal violent crime. You can mostly avoid putting yourself in a situation where you'd be a victim of violent crime. With terrorism, you always have it on your mind that something could just happen out of nowhere.
That's the whole point of terrorism -- to create fear within the population, and influence policy in that fashion.
We are fortunate to have a big ocean between us and the Middle East. We should not be importing terrorists, nor should we turning a blind eye to anti-US rhetoric from foreign-born residents.
This is why it's a reasonable idea to round up non-citizens who are hostile to this country and our way of life, and deport them. Free speech and free expression is a right of US citizens. The same rights don't exist for non-citizens, and anyone who is a guest in this country who hates it simply shouldn't be here anymore.
