I'm a member of a poker chip forum (pokerchipforum.com). It's basically a forum for chip nerds. People who make custom sets. Sell / buy chips, etc.

Paulson, who is the main chip manufacturer for most casinos stopped selling to the home market years ago. This led to paulson sets, especially mint ones, to become very sought after.

Welp, the nerds there came up with a plan to trick Paulson (GPI) into making them a brand new set(s). Essentially, they were able to get custom Paulsons, mint / brand new. They did this by literally pretending that they were opening up two new cruise ships that would have casinos on them. This was a massive group buy. They were able to acquire two cash sets and two tourney sets. We are talking about tens of thousands of chips here.

One of the tourney sets was modeled off of the WSOP chips that are used.

Apparently, Caesars was none to happy to know that thousands of knock off WSOP chips are now floating around out there. They are forcing Pauslon to replace all the chips for free.
