They aren't "reopening" it. It was never closed. They haven't even really looked at the emails yet. So they have no idea what they are dealing with. He gave no details in his very vague statement, which is why everyone is interpreting it as whatever they want. All this really proves is Comey has no fucking clue what he's doing. The letter was not for public consumption, and the terms it used were essentially legal nomenclature designed for digestion by an audience with extensive legal experience. Congressman Cheffetz proceeded to grossly misinterpret the contents and present a narrative so corrosive and shocking that it literally tanked the fucking market and quite possibly threw the election. Remember; people are voting right now.

This really all does come down to Comey, he fucked up so bad from day 1. I think this is something Democrats and Republicans can agree on. Comey is a joke. This only further proves it. This time it's in the Republicans favor, a few months ago it was in the Democrats favor.

And as multiple people have said over the past few hours, there has to be SUBSTANTIAL evidence relating to the case to take it off the shelf and start re-investigating it all over again. It can't be "nothing" for that to happen. So good luck with the whole "3 emails NBD all just a BIG misunderstanding blah blah blah ".

none of this makes any sense. if nothing else, comey had to know that his letter would be a major news story and hurt hillary. but if he had a political axe to grind, why give her a pass the first time around? i mean, is it possible that the email he found on huma's phone was so bad, that it couldn't be ignored? i.e., "wow, we really lucked out with the fbi. i told you we should never have used a private server for classified emails, lol -H"

Comey is going out of his way to protect his own ass, because if it came out that he tried to cover this up before the election his career would be over. He had no choice.

This is not the way the FBI is supposed to handle things like this. He screwed it up from day 1. Comey was damned if he did this, damned if he didn't. He brings this up, he looks bad. Hillary gets elected and he ignores these emails, and says nothing, he looks bad.
