DOT already has traffic warnings on their signs for the 8th.
Heading up to the ADKs for full blackout. Told the kids we have to leave by 6am to avoid the logjam on the 2 lane highway into the mountains.
Will be hiking 5.5 miles back rain or shine, to a remote lake with a leanto. It is mud season. Will bring fishing pole for some Brookies.
They say Venus, Mercury, and Mars will be visible.
I’m heading to Rogers Texas with my kid, supposedly will be cloudy but it’s only a couple hours away via backroads.
3 minutes of totality vs 30 seconds 17 miles East….weird.

Considered paying the big $$ to travel to see, but forecasts were scaring me.
Turned out it cleared up in a lot of places forecasted to be cloudy. Almost booked a trip to Cleveland last minute, which turned out to be sunny.
Oh well.

totality just ended a couple minutes ago for me. i was the neighborhood hero with hella eclipse glasses but you could comfortably stare at the sun for ~3 mins. the rapid 'sunrise' when it ended was the coolest partQuote:
