Singer Joe Cocker, best known for his cover of the Beatles' With A Little Help From My Friends, has died aged 70.
The singer song-writer from Sheffield had a career lasting more than 40 years with hits including You Are So Beautiful and Up Where We Belong.
His agent Barrie Marshall confirmed that he had died of an undisclosed illness.
He said he was "simply unique" and "it will be impossible to fill the space he leaves in our hearts."

Shame about Joe Cocker. To be honest he has been freerollin since the 70's. Stories were he was a partying fucker in those days.
Really good Joe Cocker song, though more gospel than blues.
If you are hurting over a woman, this song will tear you up.

I'm not huge on Beatles covers, but jesus, Joe's With a Little Help from My Friends is the best I can think of. Probably helps that Ringo sang it, but still, it's a 100%, Lennon/McCartney all four original parts Beatles song, and Joe's version blows the original right the fuck out of the water.
