RIP JD Vance

I just finished listening to a 4 hour podcast series on JD Vance. Political/psychological profiling . It was on The Rest Is Politics podcast.

The Rest is Politics format is your usual right vs left podcasting duo. They are both British. I got by without closed captioning. One of the hosts is a Yale professor and Vance is famously a Yalie.

The Vance poverty and abuse origin story. Slut mother. His coping mechanisms. He is famously “the chameleon”. His gifted intelligence

I thoroughly enjoyed nearly every minute. Better than a movie.

I’ve been knee deep in the Thiel/Vance story for some time now. Palantir is obviously a tattoo idea. This shit and these characters are so crazy they read like fiction but here we are.

Only 2 years in politics and he finds himself installed as Vice President and now the presumed GOP candidate. Time to learn the players

i have a thesis im working regarding emotional intelligence / risk aversion and younger vs older generations.

like ask your daughter if she was sitting across from someone on a first date and found out that was their backstory. whats her play there.

You have to feel pity for what Vance endured as a child. I respect that he made it out of the hood as well. That said…

Vance had at least 3 father figures that drifted in and out of his childhood. Then there was his fabulously odd grandmother. Each were vastly different personalities. Vance describes how he could easily assume a persona that would please the authority figure of the moment.

“How do you go from calling Trump “America’s Hitler” to becoming his closest ally? Why did JD Vance abandon the thoughtful, Christian conservative image that made him famous”.

Being a chameleon has been his super power.

How far will he go in pursuit of unfettered power? Remember Trump, Thiel and Yarvin are not particular fans of democracy. Democracy gets in the way of freedom. We are talking about real power previously only possessed by FDR. (FDR being their model & super hero, of course)

Back to your question. If Vance recounted his backstory complete with his admission he adopted multiple personalities during his formative years (out of the need for survival)…. Well, you run. The daughter would have absolutely no idea who the man sitting across from her truly is. Because he was always morphing you could never pin him down.

His intellect allows him to sell nearly any idea. The next day he will contradict himself in equally well read and brilliant fashion, if it suits the moment.

Chameleon. Thiel is similar in many ways. You can never pin down what he truly believes vs the contradictions he sells from podcast to podcast.

They make a lovely couple

i mean, look.. youre spending a lot of time and effort tap dancing around DSM personality disorders. and conflating intellect with cunning, which is part of that. and what i see a lot of people who stop short of using those labels doing, is admiring him for some perceived 'eye of the tiger' style capability to 'do what ever he has to' without taking the final steps and closing the loop and saying 'because hes a sociopath'.

I’m in it for the lulz. Every last detail is absurd, surreal and entertaining. I can barely accept the fact this all actually happened. Vance is the presumed GOP nominee. He is one bullet or thrombosis away from being the leader of the free world.
