Lakers looking at Dan Hurley for coach
LeBron James must prefer and also want Danny Hurley which means for his own son. The Hurley's are East Coast Jersey City New Jersey St Anthony's which is where JR Smith came from some of the best high school in talent in the nation comes from St Anthony's in Jersey City New Jersey coached by Hurley.
This is big it gives the Hurley family there Legacy more Reach Out West and the Lakers are as big as it gets

Lakers coach right now is just about the worst head coaching job throughout the big 4 sports. I suppose managing the homeless Athletics might be worse.
I mean sure, if Hurley just wants to take the bag and run, might as well. But he'll be fired in 2 years also.
AD just had his healthiest season as a Laker, and Lebron played like he was 10 years younger (and stayed healthy) and that got them.....play-in then 1st round exit. Hard to see any easy way to upgrade that roster. Maybe if Cleveland blows it up and a trade for Garland or Mitchell is on the table. Trae Young? Still doubt that vaults them into a top 6 in the west.
Monty Williams signed for a 6/$78m contract last year to coach the dreadful Pistons. Owner decided the rebuild wasnt going fast enough and replaced the GM a couple weeks ago. New GM, presumably says he wants a coach of his choosing. Williams fired.
I can only imagine working in a profession where as the new guy on the job, first thing you do is ask your boss to pay a guy $65m to go away so I can hire my guy
Lakers hire JJ Redick as head coach.... seriously why didn't they jut make LeBron a player-coach... he runs the team anyways...

Decent article about the Lakers situation above.
Reddick has zero point zero experience as a coach. He probably got hired because he's friendly with Lebron, and they do a podcast together.
Seriously. The hire probably occurred because dude does a freaking podcast with Lebron.
I guess if Lebron wants a puppet coach, he's definitely got one now.
Decent chance Trae Young comes to the Lakers, but as already mentioned, it won't be enough. Plus Lebron will be turning 40 during the season, and at some point he has to hit the wall. It's been impressive how he's faded Father Time, but the 40s barrier comes for every single professional athlete, even one as amazing as Lebron James.
There's also the Bronny matter, and the Lakers might be forced to trade for him.
jj the new pat riley also bill simmons saying celtics should draft bronny and hold him hostage is a fucking hilarious idea
The Lakers only lack one thing to win a championship: talent. Lol @ thinking a coach will make any difference, especially with LeBron running the show.
I really expected some Mitchell for Bridges deal eventually with Mitchell wanting to be closer to home and the Knicks not needing him and Cavs missing a 3.
Obviously not happening now with Bridges/Knicks mega deal. Clearly Nets looking to go OKC route and just compile assets.
lol Bronnie chosen in the draft at 50something Lebron has some reach
Been listening to a lot of Ringer talk, especially Simmons. There seems to be a consensus Cavs should trade one of their star guards and Allen; but no one seems to have any idea what they are going to do. Maybe Cavs dont have any idea either. Lakers could probably use any of the three; but they have nothing to trade.
Mitchell doing a short contract and banking on himself at this age is interesting. At only 6'1" in 3 years when he is 30 the chance of him having diminished athleticism that greatly hurts his value (given his height ant play style) is pretty high. Hard to imagine Cleveland is going to be competitive anytime in the near future with Celtics, Knicks and Philadelphia loading up. Guess he has decided to just get his money for now, play it out a couple years, and then go from there.
If Lebron really wanted the best shot at producing a son who was a clone of himself, he should have married a tall, muscular, athletic chick.
However, Savannah James, then Savannah Brinson at the time of his birth, was only 5'7" and not particularly athletic. The pregnancy was likely accidental, with Bronny being born when Lebron was 19 and Savannah 18.
Anyway, Bronny ended up supposedly 6'2", which is probably fudged a little bit, and generally a lot smaller than his famous dad. The super basketball genes were definitely diluted.
If he were not related to Lebron, I don't see him making the NBA at all. Perhaps if he finished college he would have improved, but at the moment he is not of NBA caliber.
This is a serious nepotism pick in order to keep Lebron happy -- much like JJ Reddick.
57 is pretty tall for a woman. Most of the time a son of a 69 and 57 parents would be much taller than 61. Their other son is significantly taller, but not close to the athlete. Bronny was dunking in 8th grade; he did get athleticism, just not the height. But sometimes genes mix weird and you get someone a lot taller or shorter than one would expect.
Also, the 55th pick in the draft pretty much never turns into an NBA player anyways. I think Nate Silver (or maybe someone else) did some study and children of NBA players on average overexceed their draft position pretty significantly.
Fine to take a shot on an undersized son of arguably the best player of all time for pick 55 IMO.
That is hysterical.
Jerry West woulda found it impossible to choose sides.
I do not understand how LeBron sees the reality of him passing to his son playing out. There is absolutely no upside to this.
Never watched a single Celtics game as a Masshole but I’ll tune into this. Is that somehow the goal?
Poor kid is gonna get savaged and write some Daddy Dearest book in midlife.
This is accurate take. The Cavs took Mobleys brother just to keep Mobley happy and he has less upside than Bronny being 4 year college kid. Giannis brother one of the worst players in the league. It’s a way to exceed the max without exceeding the max and keep players happy. Outside once in a lifetime Jokic, no one of any value emerges from deep 2nd round.
For Lebron, I imagine he’d be thrilled to have his son simply hang on some bench roster spot for a decade for Klutch to maintain a family relationship in the league.
Bronny played a preseason game today against Minnesota.
Lebron did not play, he was held out due to strenuous workouts over the past 3 days.
Bronny somehow tallied 3 blocks, including this chasedown block:

The 3 blocks is surprising because he's not big like his dad. In fact, even I'm bigger than Bronny, and not just weight-wise.
Offensively, he looked pretty bad, going 1/6 with 2 points.
I doubt he will be NBA ready this year, and will more just be a gimmick so Lebron can say he played with his son. When you're Lebron's son and you don't have your dad's talent or body, well... you're gonna have to get by on nepotism.
