An anchorwoman in Wisconsin who took a moment out of the morning newscast to confront a bully who sent her an e-mail to criticize her weight has earned international attention for her efforts.

Was that letter really so cruel or abusive? It doesn't look that way to me.
He calls a woman how is fat, fat. Doesn't think her unhealthy appearance is a good influence on young girls. If this e-mail is "hurtful", maybe she should consider doing something about it. Because it is nothing but true. Not quite sure why telling her the absolute truth, politely through private correspondence makes him a bully. Especially given that obesity is a huge problem in this country. An absolute non story.

Regarding this situation, there is a huge difference between what this guy did (wrote ONE private letter to someone appearing on television) and what Michael Harvey did (spent several years and hundreds of posts publicly mocking a girl for her weight, simply because he didn't like her boyfriend).
If this guy had PUBLICLY trashed the anchorwoman for weight, I would totally have appreciation for her response to him.
If he had privately written a mean-spirited, insult-laced letter, I would also have appreciated her response.
If he repeatedly wrote her letters about her weight, I would have also appreciated her response. However, he wrote to her just once.
In this case, the guy decided that her weight wasn't a good role model for children, and decided to tell her that in a private letter. I don't agree with him, as I stated in my other post, but I don't think it's fair for you to conclude that his concerns were phony and he was just trying to be an asshole. To me, his letter seemed sincere, even if misguided.
I am sorry that your daughter is dealing with problems within the media. Unfortunately the media is a very harsh place, and everything you do (and how you look) is constantly under a microscope. I'm sure that's very tough to deal with at times, and I can sympathize with whatever your daughter is going through. However, at the same time, you do need somewhat of a thick skin if you are going to venture into that type of career, because there will always be assholes criticizing you, and often it's in public. rather than privately.
I am not sure if you were around when I appeared on Live at the Bike (this was about 1 1/2 years ago), but between the camera angle, the shirt I was wearing, and the way I was sitting, I looked really fat. A lot of people let me know it, including some who didn't typically troll me. In reality, while the camera actually did add pounds, I do need to lose about 30-40 at this point, most of which I've gained in the past 3 years. I didn't get offended by people telling me I need to lose weight because it's true, even if it's not as extreme as it appeared on that broadcast. To be honest, it would have bothered me a lot more if people thought I played poker like a donkey.

yeah I wholly agree with the man from Lacrosse. She couldn't laugh this off because it was so fucking true. She couldn't dismiss the guy as a troll because he wasn't focus on meaningless insults, he was stating facts. Cold hard facts.
You know how I know it is your fault when you are fat? because all lap band surgery really does is to curb your appetite. Which makes you eat less. Ummm anyone else see a better solution? Noone seems to understand that you dont lose weight at first dieting and exercising. You gain muscle which weighs more. Over a period of months you drop the weight but our instant results society wants instant results on weight loss, which is not going to happen safely often. And lapband surgery isnt safe. 2-5% of people who have it DIE FROM THE SURGERY. The reason why it is legal is because morbidly obese people have a higher % chance of dying because of it than because of the lapband.
It didnt take weeks or even two months to GET FAT. So why expect to LOSE FAT so quickly? This is baffling. Give a good, healthy diet a try for a year before you start complaining patheticly fat fucks of America.

Quick question Gamble Im guessing those who have legitimate metabolism issues such as Hypothyroidism and other Endocrine disorders are "fat fucks" and that its all their fault they have a legitimate medical condition? Some people do legitimately have medical reasons why they have weight management issues for medical reasons (not most though but it does appear to be a rising problem my guess).. What iritates me most is this idiotic thought that low fat is better, many times its worse as they replace fat with carbs. Anybody guess the true basis behind people getting fat is?? Its actually excess carbs not excess fat consumption (this obsession with low fat products began in the 70s). The body uses what it can and then insulin in the body converts excess carbs to fat which is stored all over the body. This is also why people are ending up diabetic in many cases they genetically don't have large amount of fat cells (which is why some people can be 400-500lbs and NOT be diabetic while others become diabetic at 200lbs). Once the body cant convert carbs to fat it causes slow rises in blood sugars as the body starts ignoring the insulin because it cant convert and leading to insulin resistant aka TYPE 2 diabetes (the body can dump some sugar via the kidneys but its hard on the kidneys which is why diabetics also end up with kidney issues if they have poor control).Quote:

I agree that alot of restaurants have done the public no service with the supersizing of a lot of stuff and the large portions. However this shit is starting in childhood because parents are too fucking "busy" to make sure the kids eat properly because MCDonalds and other shit is easier. Also parents fail in the same way when it comes to allowing their kids to sit in front of the Tit tube (how else do little boys end up with bitch tits because they sit on their asses and snack and play PS3 and XBox360) for hours on end instead of telling them to get the hell off the couch, turn off the damn video game and go the hell outside. Lets be honest kids learn bad habits at a young age which is why I suspect the adult population has the issue it does and why its become more and more acceptable. I just wish we could find a happy medium in society because it seems nobody is bloody well a normal healthy weight as a whole (at least ont he female side) either they are so fucking rail thin from not eating or purging or they are 200+ and develop issues such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) its honestly affecting women on both sides being able to have kids (too thin lack of any perceptible body fat and the estrogen production shuts down causing amenorrhea, too fat and oddly it causes an imbalance of testosterone in females also causing irregular periods and leading to severe if not impossible ability to conceive as PCOS women tend to miscarry within the first trimester 50% of the time)
Ok Im off my soapbox now. So yes alot of people are fat by choice but there are some who go legit have medical issues, my mother has struggled with weight issues on and off (never horribly or ever reached 200lbs) but she had hyperthyroid crisis when I was very young and had to take radioactive iodine to destroy a significant portion of her thyroid and subsequently ended up then has to take replacement therapy to keep her metabolism normal (requiring blood tests every 3-6 months to check blood levels). The thyroid actually for such a little organ controls the entire speed of the Basal Metabolic Rate of the human body (It does get signals from the pituitary gland so a malfunction there by a tumor or somethingelse can also affect metabolism). Medical reasons are genuinely the minority in those with metabolic disorders affecting those who are overweight but to assume EVERYBODY is fat from choice isnt fair either.

So yes alot of people are fat by choice but there are some who go legit have medical issues, my mother has struggled with weight issues on and off (never horribly or ever reached 200lbs) but she had hyperthyroid crisis when I was very young and had to take radioactive iodine to destroy a significant portion of her thyroid and subsequently ended up then has to take replacement therapy to keep her metabolism normal (requiring blood tests every 3-6 months to check blood levels). The thyroid actually for such a little organ controls the entire speed of the Basal Metabolic Rate of the human body (It does get signals from the pituitary gland so a malfunction there by a tumor or somethingelse can also affect metabolism). Medical reasons are genuinely the minority in those with metabolic disorders affecting those who are overweight but to assume EVERYBODY is fat from choice isnt fair either.
Read my post dude. I addressed that issue. They are a rare breed of overweight people that have a legit excuse. But thats like discussing abortion policy and getting all riled up about cases of rape or incest. We need our abortion policy discussion, to have a real discussion, whatever side you are on, to address the millions of pregnancies, not the 900 or so rape or incest cases.

I always hear the same damn sad song: I've tried every diet yada yada. Just the fact that you tried more than 3 diets in a year proves YOU DIDNT STICK TO YOUR GODDAMN DIET LONG ENOUGH. This is rarely spoken but the real cause of failed diets: you have to wait until you are skinny.
Noone seems to understand that you dont lose weight at first dieting and exercising. You gain muscle which weighs more. Over a period of months you drop the weight but our instant results society wants instant results on weight loss, which is not going to happen safely often. And lapband surgery isnt safe. 2-5% of people who have it DIE FROM THE SURGERY. The reason why it is legal is because morbidly obese people have a higher % chance of dying because of it than because of the lapband.
It didnt take weeks or even two months to GET FAT. So why expect to LOSE FAT so quickly? This is baffling. Give a good, healthy diet a try for a year before you start complaining patheticly fat fucks of America.
