Meet William Marotta. This creepy dude from Kansas offered his sperm on Craigslist for $50 a pop.

Rather than bother going through a doctor's office, they all figured they could do the whole thing for free with a syringe. He would receive $50 for every batch of sperm. After an unknown number of tries (perhaps just one?), the chick on the right with the big forehead got pregnant, and the baby was born in late 2009.
The lovely couple soon broke up, and apparently the butcher of the two women (the one who didn't carry the baby) was on disability and was unable to support the kid.
The state coughed up $6100 for childbirth expenses, and wanted to collect that money back from Marotta, who had donated the sperm.
The state used the flimsy law that any insemination done outside of a doctor's office is considered invalid, even if a contract had been signed (which there was one).
Apparently the former lesbian couple supported the state and in fact did want the guy to pay child support.
The courts originally ruled he was responsible, but since reversed that decision.
He's now off the hook, and probably won't be placing any more Craigslist sperm donation ads any time soon.
