I enjoyed it, and I don't even like the franchise that much. V and IV are the only really good ones to me. VI and III are okay, and I-II are abominable.

I think that the new characters are good, and the old characters weren't even really necessary. Aside from the oldies providing some needed context, I felt like the new ones could have carried the movie without.

8.5/10, will see again in theatres.

If I asked you to name the movie where a droid gets uploaded with secret plans, gets shot out of a ship and lands on a desert planet, only to be picked up by a farmer who then tries to return the droid to the person it belongs to.. what movie am I describing? I or VII? There is no difference except the old characters have replaced the wise characters in the first film. Hell they even squeezed in a Yoda type character as a bonus, big eyes and all. The big surprise to me about the plot of this film is that instead of taking things in a new direction, they just rehashed, almost scene for scene, the first movie. Joseph Campbell on fleek.

Yes, I got it. Just thought that the autonomous elements/characters were strong enough to not need to rely so heavily on the old films.

They did a few too many "inside" jokes with actors looking at the camera. Was funny once but not everytime.

Just watched it again at the parents house and it's confirmed this movie soooooo catered to the fan boys and did not try and do anything at all original. Legit it was like watching episode 4 with new characters. Juat really an okayish movie that has been hyped way to much. Watching it again just made it worse.

I just watched it and yeah...just wow bad. Entertaining enough on its own if you're not a fan i guess....but its like if some film grad got to make a star wars homage picture, and actually got the oldtimers to join in. This might be my 2nd least favorite of all the movies

Saw it last night. It was ok.

It completely ruined it for me that the goofy dude from the show "Girls" was darth vaders son. Just couldnt take the movie seriously after that.


No idea what the big deal about this movie is.
