Hello, esteemed users of PFA.
I have read your arguments, and I still remain unmoved.
I don't ask for much here. I run this system at a loss, allow people (including Pockles) to insult and degrade me, and try my hardest to act fairly and responsibly with everyone.
However, when an asshole approaches me like an ingrate and DEMANDS his money in the form of an insult, that's where I have to draw the line. The freeroll money isn't a right -- it's a gift to the community, given by our listeners on behalf of the radio show.
I will only send such prizes if the winner asks in at least a semi-respectful manner. Over 700 winners across 4 years, and we've never had this problem until now.
Dr. P can receive the $40 at any time, provided he asks in a normal, respectful manner. He doesn't have to kiss ass or grovel. He just needs to ask in a similar fashion to the other 700 people -- without insults, degradation, or demands. That is hardly unreasonable.
I understand that some of you still disagree with this decision. That is fine. I don't expect everyone to agree with everything I say and do.
If for some reason this issue is a showstopper for you, and you can't move forward on this site after the horrible thing I've done to the Good Doctor, then allow me to politely lead you toward the door...

I agree with this 1000%. Druff always says the donaters can do whatever they want with the money they donate. Druff is acting like this is his money. Perhaps the people who donated should weigh in?

Let's say a local restaurant had a contest to win a free dinner there, and I won.

As much of a drunken, rude, shit-show that Marty is, he met the criteria, won the tournament fairly, and is exercising his right to Free Speech and hasnt harmed anyone.
Pay him the $40. Its up to him how he decides to behave and people are free to appreciate his behavior or ignore him.

Got a "Notice of Class Action Settlement" regarding PayPal today. Swore I would never use that POS. I guess back in the day of Neteller and all that shit I went to the dark side. Keep my fucking money. Watching eBay dying past couple of days fills my dark heart with gladness.
Anyway, it caused me to wonder how much all the banking costs Druff. All the freeroll payments and disbursement of escrowed bets. The "fuss and bother" (Winnie the Pooh, amirite?) would annoy me. The book keeping and time. I'd never do it. However, to some degree it is the life blood of this place.
I did have to ship a losing bet with another member to Druff. I used Bitcoin and included a Bitcoin risk premium. Why should he get stuck cause JSearles owned my soul?
Anyway, all this is an aspect that is easily overlooked around here. Gotta give Druff props for his efforts - at the very least a little respect.

If a casino withheld someones freeroll prize because they were disrespectful to the house (but not to a point where they were banned or prohibited from engaging in the freeroll), that behavior would be skewered on the front page here and probably be the subject of 7 straight hours of mockery on the radio show.

I'd say Druff just do what ever you think is best with the $40, you've spent enough time on it. If i can get tilted from a couple off hand Djchaps comments. The money was donated by people other than yourself and he can ask for it, or demand it, in whatever fashion he wants. Pay him and bar him from participation in any future freerolls. Since it isn't your money, I don't think you should have the right to retroactively add requirements on manners when asking for the money.
Upon further contemplation, I think I recall a tournament on Martin's site in which a winner (408, maybe?) was denied the ability to claim his prize and Martin used his power to award the money to Delaware... so... fuck him, Druff, keep the money and donate it.
