    The Big Short

Amazing book that looks like its going to be an amazing movie in the near future.

Pretty much eviscerates the entire bond investment market.

TL;DR... aspie weirdo with no interest in sucking Wall Street's dick starts tucking into the hugely-pervasive subprime loan market and cries foul, then takes it one step further and sets up an investment fund predicated completely on the assumption that the whole thing is a ponzi scheme and about to go supernova.

...He makes billions of dollars for his clients when the whole thing goes supernova.

    Fucking great read.

Been years since I read this book. But you would identify more closely with Michael Burry. Obsessive & reclusive. Studied medicine not because he liked it but because it was easy.

Would stay up between 14 hour hospital rounds and take apart his computer to make it run faster.

They had him see a psychologist who diagnosed him as bipolar. Autistic?

Dude had a glass eye. Kept popping out when he tried sports.

Reading financial reports was a good day for him. How you translate this to the screen idk.

Skip to latter half of this article for a character sketch of this guy.

Book is fantastic. Always timely. About to dust off Liars Poker again.

Quit screwing around and download book.

Michael Lewis is the king of explaining complex issues, usually financial through character driven prose. The characters in this true story are epic and Lewis describes them better than anything else you will read.

Not to diffuse your enthusiasm for the story/film but the SEC narrative - the utter indifference, lack of understanding and incompetence serves as a great reminder why relying on Big Brother to protect the lambs in finance or online poker is naive.

Wonder what books Druff has on his nightstand. Couldn't even get him to read the Dodger book. I try.

You mean the book that I started a thread about and said I was reading?

I think you're missing the part where I said like 3 times that I'm reading it and its amazing? To the point that I started a thread about it because the movie is probably going to be amazing too?

Brad Pitt's company Plan B Entertainment financed it. It comes out in December.

Look at that cast. Could be another Foxcatcher for Carrell. Plus Bradd Pitt and Christian Bale doing work.

Hopefully, the script is strong enough to carry Carrell. He always strikes me as a parody not an actor. Skipped Foxcatcher for pretty much this reason. Perhaps unfair.

Blind Side - story why left tackles are the second highest paid position other than quarterback post Joe Theismann and Lawrence Taylor.

The movie went off on a tangent.

The left tackle pricing bubble has burst. QB's release too quick and you can't touch them in the new fagged up NFL.

The only possible concern I have with the movie adaptation is how they are going to squeeze the nuance it deserves in terms of both the subprime market's 'emperor has no clothes' factor as well as what delightful weird asses the principle characters are.

Like, understanding how Eisman went from a cold war right wing Republican to a socialist, pretty much because of what he learned about the markets first hand.. I hope they dont leave shit like that out, is all Im saying.
