I'm watching negreanu get his hat handed to him versus rUaBot on stars. He's down 60k over 750 hands of 200/400.
Seems like an easy way to lose a lot of money fast.

937 hands out of 2500 and its over. ez 75k
I hate any form of LHE other than HU. Heads up can be fun
He prob hasn't put in 500 hands HU let alone 10,000.
Here is the problem he faced today. The guy he played is a specialist and I am pretty sure is world class or close to it. the best guys today @ heads up play pretty much flawless and will adjust very quickly to any type of strategy you present them and they will give an average player a very hard time figuring out exactly what the hell it is they are doing.
The game Negreanu played against Dreamclown in their battles years ago was good for that time and it worked ok and the dreamclown guys were good players.
But the game has changed a fair amount since those days. I actually asked Daniel @ wsop last year if he would play heads up limit challenges (cause at the time he was playing high NL) vs some of the best players and he said he had played St1ckman etc before and I was curious to see how he would stack up.
I had a feeling what happened or what was happening yesterday would be the norm. it is possible the guy just ran like god and crushed him BUT I suspect if they play again the results would be similar or RUABOT would win
I think if he got practice he would catch on fast though he would take a beating for a while without getting coaching or picking the bests brains
HU limit holdem is a form of poker that is very interesting to me but I have never really tried to learn it. I suspect its because it requires the kind of pooh flinging that I am not comfortable with so I never thought it was a good choice for me.
I once railed Ivy destroying I think it was Zigmund on FT and then tried to copy his style and played a few $20 HU sng's on Stars with some early success but eventually I ended up quitting my experiment about even.
It must be the greatest feeling in the world to know that you can sit HU with 98% of people and be a favorite like this RUABOT must be.

I think the two most untapped poker formats are heads-Up O8 and Stud8... I started playing these in like 2004 when I was prop at a small site getting 100% rakeback: I had to leave when a table filled so it was a waste to start Holdem tables. I'd play heads-up and three-handed O8 and Stud8 and made a killing. The O8 players seem to have improved over the years but Stud8 is still easy pickings... of course I'm talking small to mid-stakes games here, not $20/$40+

There's not an optimal strategy HU since it changes with every opponent. If you want to play ABC then the more players the better. You can absolutely crush full ring Stud games (Stud, Stud8, Razz) playing ABC even into the midstake games. Unfortunately for US players I don't know anywhere that they really run outside of Stars.
It all depends on the player you are up against. Generally you'll run into two types:
- Guys who fold their bring-in, or fold to a bring-in, and overvalue three to a low starting hands --basically playingl ike its full ring
- Guys who will play any hand and refuse to fold if they can beat your board
And you'll have to play very differently against these two opponents, there is no magic strategy that makes you unexploitable. The reason the game is profitable is because there are so few resources on it!

I played a bit of Limit but got turned off after sitting HU with a guy starting with $200 and then playing for about 20 minutes of breakeven poker and seeing us both at about $175. I didn't think beating the rake was possible.
