    Las Vegas Sphere

I am going to the Sphere when I go to the WSOP this year. I want to see Darren Aronofsky's "Postcard From Earth." I was wondering if any of you guys have seen it? I would love some advice on the best place to sit, should I walk or take a taxi from the Horseshoe (I don't do Uber), best time to see it on a Sunday (or Monday if I run deep in tourney), etc...

I have never been to anything like this before, and have heard it is absolutely amazing. This is a once a year trip to Las Vegas for me, so I want to make the most of it. Thank you in advance for any and all advice you guys have to offer.

I have not been inside the sphere before. I know the Postcard from Earth show has mixed reviews, though, so you should be aware of this.

    Here's the general consensus...

    The good:

    - The visuals are amazing and extremely well done

    - The first 15-20 minutes showcase earth's natural beauty and human culture, to where some reviewers described their feeling as "on the verge of tears"

    The bad:

    - The final 30-35 minutes of the show descend into an obnoxious, in-your-face, depressing left-wing message which casts humans as a parasite on the planet

    - The show is incredibly expensive for the 50-minute runtime. The remainder of the time you spend in the "atrium", and not watching the show itself

    - Some have complained that the hour you spend in that atrium is boring, and you're basically just watching unspectacular animatronic robots speak to you

BOTTOM LINE: This could have been a great, albeit pricey experience, where you find yourself immersed within a 360-degree world of beautiful sights and sounds. Instead, for whatever reason, the majority is a depressing political message about environmentalism -- one which even those who care about the environment will find grating.

It's really too bad, because even the 1-star reviews concede that the first 15-20 minutes are absolutely beautiful and well produced.

I do want to say one other thing regarding the environmental message.

You might picture that I just hate all environmentalists because I'm a Republican. That's false. When it comes to environmental matters, I am actually a centrist, and not right wing at all. I agree with setting aside land for national and state parks, I agree with the government funding these, and I agree that corporations polluting the environment need to be reined in. On the other side, while I think climate change is real, the evidence that it's human-caused is spotty, and even if it is, it's impossible to combat without the entire world's cooperation (which we don't have). So I think all the climate change based policy is BS virtue signaling, whereas environmental policy tackling the immediate and near-term future is very important.

I grew up in LA which was full of smog in the '70s and '80s, and was very pleased to see it start to vanish in the mid-90s thanks to stronger environmental regulations (and better technology). Now LA doesn't have much of a smog problem at all. Great success!

Anyway, I can appreciate a message of, "It's a beautiful planet, we need to be careful not to fuck it up, and we need to keep certain spaces away from any kind of development."

I cannot appreciate an obnoxious message shaming humans for ruining the planet.

In general, entertainment venues really should keep the politics out. The best way to get people to support environmentalism is to show them the earth's beautiy, and then calmly explain the tangible, near-term solutions to keeping greed or carelessness from ruining it. Once you get beyond that, you're just soapboxing, and nobody wants to pay money to hear that shit.

Florida Republican thinks we should sell off national parks
Legislators are always looking for ways to pull America out of its bajillion-dollar deficit

What would Alaska fetch? Time to get creative. Tick tock

I have to admit, I feel a little deflated after Todd's analysis of the Sphere (I realize he hasn't personally experienced it). Having said that, I appreciate his honesty. I always want the truth, whether it is what I wanted to hear or not. Since I usually only visit Vegas once a year, I am still going to purchase a ticket and see it for myself.

I am a conservative republican, but will put aside my own personal views and keep an open mind. If anyone is interested, I can come back to this thread and let you guys know what I thought of everything.

Going to see Dead & Co. at the Sphere in early August when I'm out there for the Morgan Wallen concert. (My Gringo wife is a huge Country music fan). Any reviews from people who have actually been to the Sphere?

Move over Red Rocks, the Sphere is now the best concert venue in the country. I hate people that spend the entire concert filming with their phones, but even I succumbed on this occasion. Took a date this time, but I’m coming back with my buddies and a bag of shrooms. Druff would only enjoy himself here if they held a Trump rally.

Reach out your hand, if your cup be empty
If your cup is full, may it be again
Let it be known there is a fountain

A review from someone who actually attended?

Has anyone received their tournament winnings in the last year?

Thanks for the information, made a recent trip to Vegas and was told by several colleagues to do the Sphere show. Saw the prices online and decided to hold off until either I got a Local Groupon or some sort of Discount (Casino Comp, etc.)

Decided to spend the $100+ on MJ One CDS and was glad I opted for it. Say what you will about Jacko, but the show was fantastic and worth the cost. I bought the cheapest seats and handed the usher $5 and got upgraded to seats 10 rows back in the middle.

Also, Tournament of Kings was pretty good value considering you get Dinner with the show!

Where do you recommend buying REAL THC gummies on the strip? Not the bullshit CBD shit made from Hemp.

There is only one cannabis store on the strip, Cookies, and it’s up near the Sahara. It’s ok. My favorite is Curaleaf on Western. You’ll find anything you want at Reef at decent prices. Jade is ok in a pinch and a mile from the Sphere. Have fun.
