This industry is incredibly pathetic.
I mean, they have the ongoing association with Kings Casino in Czech Republic, despite the owner literally ripping someone off in a heads up match on credit, while he was in Vegas.
WSOP didn't even blink. Just kept on with it, and the high limit cash room at WSOP is still "Kings Lounge" to this day, plus they have the events at Kings itself.
This one isn't as bad. As far as I can tell, the casino isn't owned by the Kahnawakes, it's just regulated by them. Which still sucks, but I don't expect them to give a shit at this point, 16 years after the scandal. Especially with this many degrees of separation.
WSOP has also had problems with stamping its name on third party businesses, which ended up acting shady. The worst example was the "WSOP School of Poker", which ended up being an outright scam.
Seth Palansky (then a high executive at the WSOP) told me at the time that the WSOP School of Poker fiasco finally made them re-think their brand licensing strategy. I was amazed they allowed this in the first place. Imagine putting the WSOP brand in the hands of some shady guy who could literally do anything!
