BABA IPO Friday. This is a monster.

Chinese Amazon/eBay in a nutshell. The frenzy, hype and expectation is off the hook here. Got no insight, but the trading will be manic.

Reminds my of stories I have heard about prop firms (especially Canada) using Chinese citizens as cheap, educated traders. They work well below the standard arrangements for compensation.

I try not to listen to rumors. But the conventional word is that the street is selling the momo stocks like Facebook, Apple ... and to a lesser extent GPRO so they have cash to play Alibaba BABA - IPO Friday.

So they took out GPRO first minute of trading and never gave you a chance to play the tumble.

BABA is gonna be the biggest IPO ever.

The cynic in me loves to think that the Chinese government could wake up one day a declare the whole thing worthless. That thought appeals to me.

Alibaba has a huge tax advantage versus Amazon. The Amazon model is based on near zero margin. (fluff posted this recently, interesting timing) Again, the Chinese government could flip that in a nanosecond. Just interesting thinking, cause this has nothing to do with the IPO price or the subsequent casino afterward.

BABA is going to be epic fun. Nobody is going to be able to resist playing this.

This feels like a market top to me. People have been running the social media bubble. Market runs always have this kind of cherry on top.

The Fed could really make things interesting on Friday too.

I think 1.6 billion is a mistake. IMO new model is small. Casinos are going to be as numerous as libraries someday. Companies are spending too much money trailblazing the inevitable public sentiment regarding casino gambling.

The payback is way too long.

They are doing this as the tide regarding online is turning. People don't care how they get their gamble on. They don't need 1.6 billion palaces to wager.

GPRO has at times had 35% of its float short. There are as many shares shorted as are traded daily.

This thing has disconnected completely from reality.

It's just a short table poker game between:

the shorts who know this is stupid (doesn't matter if it's stupid)

The momo players who just like big green candles

The traders who want to rape both sides.

Those big trades in the morning make this thing almost impossible to day trade for more than pennies with my gutless approach.

The paranoia about my trades being watched - it's like nothing else recently.

Every fiber of my being wants to short this. But everyone else does too. It could go to $100 with this dynamic. It could go completely thermonuclear. Only when the shorts give up will this thing crater.

I waste far too much time watching this. It's like watching Isildur1 playing HU PLO.

Just pulled it up, the daily kinda looks nice. I def forgot how this one moves. 52 wk low of 10.46 in mid July, now trading 16 and resting above the 50 day MA. If that 50MA holds we can make another run up to them 20s IMO.


BABA back above 90, including some uptick action AH today.

Still not ready to make an official recommendation on AMRN yet, even tho it started to look interesting again. Still a fair amount of uncertainty there with FDA appeals and label expansions etc. Pumpers who bought this 1.20 stock in the teens can be found on every board. I've been banned from most of em. It was nothing but momo and shorts. An epic battle. The stock price had absolutely nothing to do with business. It was pure poker. The daily swings were monumental.

This is key: when the shorts are such a big percentage of the float the traders absolutely murder them.
