HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Those "Be like Bill" memes you're seeing Facebook feed may be giving you a couple of chuckles, but if you're not careful, they could end up giving you a big headache.
The meme creates a story about you and asks you to share it with your friends on Facebook. But according to KFVS-TV in Missouri, the Better Business Bureau says you should read the terms of privacy first and make sure you're OK with what it states.
The meme's creator, Bobla, says in its terms, "You will allow us to use, edit your content with our service permanently, no limit and no recover."
KFVS says in some cases, the content could contain viruses that can damage your computer, access your Facebook profile or even find ways to get your credit card and bank account numbers.
If you've already created the meme and shared it to your Facebook page, here's how you can remove it.
Go to your Facebook settings and select the Apps category from the left menu. From there, hover over the appropriate app and click "X" to remove.
In general, the BBB offers the following advice when navigating the Internet:
Don't take the bait. Stay away from promotions of "exclusive," "shocking" or "sensational" video or photos.
When in doubt, throw it out. Delete unsolicited emails or social media messages that raise red flags.
Hover over a link to see its true destination. Before you click, mouse over the link to see where it will take you. Don't click on links leading to unfamiliar websites.
Don't trust your "friends" online. It might not actually be your friends who are "liking" or sharing scam links to photos. The lady who gave me my dog like 12 years stopped by recently to ask if I wanted another dog since I was a good owner. It was a pit bull mix but looked mostly pit bull, fuck that. I'm not in the market for a new dog and I've decided i'm not going to get any sort of pit bull mix if i do. I wouldn't tell her I've went anti pit bull she'd freak out. I got a older pit mix (more of a border collie than pit) right now, lol
Zero chance she would ever mistreat her dogs. She lived a bit out of town. Fence broke ,she had a pit bull escape into her friend and only neighbor's yard. Neighbor ( who knows the dog btw ) goes to chase him out of her yard. Dog attacks her. The two other pit bull's see the attack and join in. The paper wasn't clear but she either got attacked for an hour (impossible?) or she had to wait for help an hour.
Pit bull owner comes home and finds friend. She rushes her friend to the hospital for surgery. She may barely be clinging to life or just mangled pretty bad IDN. Her 3 pit bulls put to sleep and 3 charges against her with prosecutors looking into more. Pit bulls do not have to be mistreated for them to just snap in certain situations period. I'm curious what she has to say about it.
To many other great breeds out there, don't get one.
