Then Roberts takes out Utley anyway and puts in Culbertson -- AFTER Utley makes an out to end the inning.

I realize it was a double switch in order to avoid the pitcher's spot, but still...

I like Roberts, but I don't agree with that move letting Utley hit. I do think the double-switch after that was correct, though. Culbertson is a better defender at this point.

Apparently as the OP. My thread wasn't good enough the title needed to be changed.

Kershaw looking awful today, just has no command at all.

Scherzer looking better than Kershaw, but he's made a few dumb pitches (most notably that bad curveball to Justin Turner, smacked for a 2-run HR), so Dodgers are barely up 4-3 after taking a 4-0 lead.

I know Kershaw has a big ego and it's hard to take him out and piss him off (or make him doubt himself for the rest of the playoffs), but if the Dodgers don't get him out soon, they will lose.

This year's bullpen is good, so it's not like other years where they had to fear a fail bullpen blowing the game.

I don't think this is just Kershaw having postseason issues. I think he isn't fully healthy.

The FS1 announcers are awful, blaming Kershaw's lack of command on Grandal. Come on.
Don't worry Todd, the Dodgers will win this series. And believe me, the Dodgers are better off facing the Cubs than the Giants in the next round.

I agree they will win this series.

I've said for awhile that it will be Dodgers/Cubs in the NLCS.

I disagree about facing the Cubs being better than the Giants.

The Giants can pitch but can't hit.

    The Cubs can do both.

Also, the Dodgers would get home field against the Giants, but not the Cubs.

Today was very, very close though.

Ball wasn't carrying well, which worked to the Dodgers' favor. Well, except that one ball by Turner which Werth caught, which may have been a HR (and definitely a double) on a different night.

Kershaw also was fortunate that he got out of a LOT of jams, aside from those 3 runs he allowed.

At any moment, disaster could have struck, and today's conversation would be about another Kershaw postseason fail, rather than "Wow the Dodger bullpen is good".

Hopefully it was just an off day for Kershaw, and he will come back as himself next time.

BTW, no man alive in the US today can remember the Cubs' last World Series victory.

    Seriously. Not one.

As a Tigers fan it PAINS me to say this but the Cleveland Indians look like they could be a team of destiny (sort of like the 2014 and 2015 Royals).

They are without some of their best starting pitchers and it don't seem to matter. I like their chances to at least get to the World Series.

When is MLB going to dump that retarded rule where the winner of the All Star Game gets home field?

That's a terrible obnoxious rule, especially since home field means so much in NL/AL games.

Most NL teams do not carry a good 9th hitter, because that hitter would not get enough at-bats to warrant carrying him as just a bench player.

Therefore, NL teams will tend to have a weaker DH (or alternately, having to place a light-hitting reserve in place of the good hitter moved to DH), while AL teams usually have a strong hitter at DH.

Furthermore, NL pitchers are not used to the relentless barrage of good/decent hitters they must face through the lineups, as they do not have the luxury of the almost-auto-out of the pitcher's spot, which is especially amplified if the 8-spot hitter is somewhat weak as well. This is why many good NL pitchers fail when they go over to the AL, at least initially.

An AL team getting 4 games at home is a pretty big edge. Now, if they earned that edge with a better record, they deserve it. If they didn't, they shouldn't get it.

The All Star Game should not determine it.

Snake is a retard. Only a retard would prefer to play the best team in baseball and give up home field vs playing the wild card team w/o home field. And then he goes and posts it on a public forum.

I would rather take my chances facing the Cubs pitching staff instead of facing the best pitcher in postseason history for Game 1, 4, and 7.

    Hey Small Dick,

If the next round is Dodgers vs Cubs, are you interested in a series wager?
