Trump is an alt-right candidate. That democrats and the traditional conservative/republican agree that he's a catastrophe does not mean that "parties dont matter", and it certainly does not mean that somehow, by some quantum logic flaw, that they are both wrong.

Also, part of the GOPs strategy to diminish the appeal of the Democratic Party candidates is to discourage voters from more closely comparing Democratic candidates from GOP ones. Especially because the GOP ones they are putting up are so virulently socially conservative.
