Just made a correct lay down which would've resulted in a fluke win and I would've been chip leader or close. 2s2x4s5x in 5 way pot pumped up by short stack to 26k. Flop Js2h4h flop. Guy all in 94k. I flat, huge stack next to me all in... (1/2) #pfa60

Finally reasoned out I was against A3 with the 94k and JJ with the huge stack. Laid it down and saw exactly that. Ts/Ks and I would've gotten backdoor flush for almost 800k. Instead I just have 126k. (2/2) #pfa60

With 58 left I drew this for Day 3:
Joseph Couden Tamarac, FL, US 403,000 Amazon / 426 / 1
Erik Seidel HENDERSON, NV, US 497,000 Amazon / 426 / 2
Jameson Painter LAS VEGAS, NV, US 421,000 Amazon / 426 / 3
Jon Turner Las Vegas, NV, US 1,008,000 Amazon / 426 / 4
Yoav Amit Hezeliya, , IL 66,000 Amazon / 426 / 5
Zachary Hench Louisville, KY, US 629,000 Amazon / 426 / 6
Angel Martinez Arlington, VA, US 304,000 Amazon / 426 / 7
Todd Witteles LAS VEGAS, NV, US 454,000 Amazon / 426 / 9
Looks like it's me, Erik Seidel, Jameson Painter, Jon Turner (the big stack), and three unknowns.
Unfortunately the three known pros all have position on me.
We will see where this goes.

According to the WSOP.com updates, Joseph (Joey) Couden won this event last year, so I wouldn't count him in with the unknowns. Sorry Druff, just one more tough player at the table.
I was following along with your updates the last couple days and it sounds like you have had a lot of difficult decisions to make but have made the right one most if not all of the time. So I don't think you need any advice from me, but here are a few things I would be thinking about if I were going to be playing a tough PLO8 table with a close to average stack and only 59 people left...I guess you can either see these as tips, or maybe as insight as to how one of your opponents might be thinking...
Obviously when you are playing with inexperienced players and deep stacks the ideal situation is to just be in position with a hand like a suited ace and two wheel cards, call an early position raise from someone that will overplay a hand like AA9T, flop the nut low and a flush draw and be freerolling them to scoop the whole pot. But how many times can you really expect that to happen today, especially with a table full of good players? So where else can you find an edge other than just hoping to luckily cooler or quarter someone?
One thing I'd be thinking about (and that I also thought about at the limit O8 event) was what Mike Matusow said on his podcast when someone asked him for advice on how to play O8. He said one thing he does is try to "track the aces". If you know certain players aren't going to raise, re-raise, call, or call a raise without an ace, and then on a given hand three of them are playing in a raised pot, you can get a better idea of where you stand and what cards are left in the deck. Likewise, while you would fold a hand like 9TJK under the gun, you might be raising with it if you are on the button or in the blind and most of the table has limped in, because with a high number of solid players limping in you can usually be confident that there are a lot of high cards left in the deck. (Now, don't blame me if you do that and the flop comes QQ4!) But what Mike said was "You wouldn't believe how many times they all limp in with low cards, I raise from the small blind with some trash high-only hand, and then I get a bunch of their chips because the high cards come out on the flop and people try and steal the pot from me because they think I'd only raise with an ace-duece type hand."
Kind of along those lines...I would be thinking to myself that I was probably going to need to make at least one big bluff...not just a small semi-bluff like when you are in the big blind with Ah3hXxXx and the flop comes 8h8cQh and you bet when the small blind checks to you. And I'm not saying to bluff just for the sake of bluffing - I just mean that you will likely be on some draws, and you won't make all of them. And you will likely be in some pots and see a scare card hit. If in all of those situations you just give up and check/fold, your tough opponents will just run you over. So I would try to watch and see who the tightest players were at the table, and maybe more importantly, who saw me as the tightest, and those would be the opponents that I would try to steal one from (very selectively, obviously).
The last thing I was thinking of when you mentioned that Scott Clements had raised like five straight hands, then someone re-raised him with the AA56 and you had to fold A2J7 suited (another one of the good moves you made), was "I wonder how many players in this tournament would only re-raise with an AA hand, and nothing else". So one thing I would be looking at is what kinds of hands re-raisers are showing down to see who would only three-bet with a big pair and who would do it with other hands. If I was down to the final 59 I probably wouldn't have the guts to put my tournament life at risk by lightly four-betting someone with half my stack or more, just because I thought they would three-bet light and might fold assuming I would only four-bet with a super-strong AA2x type hand. But if I was short-stacked and had to decide when I was going to put in the rest of my chips, I'd certainly rather do it versus someone who would raise or three-bet lighter.
Of course there would be so many other things that I'd be thinking about when making decisions (stack sizes, pay jumps, my table image and the images of the other players, etc...). But those are just a few things I thought of while reading the updates the last couple days.
Good luck today Druff! Hopefully tomorrow we will all be mad at PokerGo and CBS because we will be missing seeing you at the final table!
